pink hot is an in-depth exploration of the color pink, disecting its various meanings, connotations, and (mis)perceptions. The book’s 100 pages explore pink from a visual perspective, pink in the natural world, pink’s use in the art and design, and how to incorperate pink as a state of mind.

This project went through several iterations and experimental phases before culminating in a final book.

Iteration 1: Visual Essay
An initial compliation of pink images relating to initial investigatory topics of nature, gender, affection, visual impact, and queerness.

Iteration 2: Text Exploration
A further exploration of material, type, and binding techniques, this book contains a selection from Simone de Beauvoir’s The Second Sex.

Iteration 3: A Taxonomy of Pinkified Objects A catalog of various consumer products that come in pink.

Iteration 4: Valentine’s Book
This final exploratory book features monochromatic pink images, visible through the ‘rose-colored’ film on the front and back covers.
